The head of the department
The department was founded in June 1, 1995. From the very beginning the department has been headed by Pasichnyk V.V, D.Sc.(Tech), full professor. The creation of a new scientific school which has been dealing with data base and data bank problems gave impetus to setting up Information Systems and Networks Department.
Information Systems and networks are socio-technical systems that involve the coordination of technology, organizations, and people. The most advanced computing technology is essentially worthless unless businesses can make use of the technology and unless individuals feel comfortable using it.  Information systems is the field of choice for millions of professionals who design and build the information processing systems on which all companies depend. The key ingredient of all management activity is information.
Department of Information Systems and Networks provides students with deep and sound knowledge on how to use Information Technology (IT) in business environment to gain a competitive advantage, improve performance, and increase profitability of a business enterprise.
The Department of Information Systems and Networks teaches programming, formal languages and compilers, database and information systems, computer networks, formal specifications, internet and distributed applications.Seven Ph.D theses and one doctoral thesis were sustained in the scientific specialization Theoretical basis of information science and cybernetics, a wide range of monographs and articles are published in Ukrainian and foreign magazines.
The academic staff contains one Doctor of Science and 17 candidates of technical sciences. Diploma papers and master projects are aimed at solving real problems that concern the expansion of national economy.
Since 1996 the department has annually been showing its scientific developments at the international exhibitions: Computer and office (GalExpo ISC) and Computer+business (Halyts’ki kontrakty ISC).
Scientific and manufacture efforts are focused on system analysis, corporate information system development.
